Daniel C. Williams, 90, of Mardela Springs, MD passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, MD. He was born on July 2, 1924 in Baltimore, a son of the late Daniel and Christina Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary C. Williams; and a granddaughter, Shannon Einwich. Dan was also predeceased by three brothers, Bernie, Charlie and Eddie Williams and one sister, Janet Sproul. Dan was a U.S. Army veteran, who served as a Staff Sergeant with the 726th Amphibian Tractor Battalion in the South Pacific. Upon leaving the Army, he was hired by Crosse and Blackwell, acting as foreman on their tomato, pickle and tea lines for over 25 years. Dan then moved to the Eastern Shore with his wife Mary and youngest daughter, Joan, and lived in Mardela Springs for 40 years, taking up employment and subsequently retiring from Coldwater Seafood in Cambridge. He enjoyed duck pin bowling in his younger years, and was an avid fisherman and Baltimore Orioles fan. Dan was a long and faithful member of St. Francis de Sales Parish. More than anything else, he will be remembered as a man who loved his family and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them. He was so proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Dan also enjoyed keeping up with his brother's family and thoroughly enjoyed their visits. Dan is survived by three daughters, Kathy Willin (Joe) of Delmar, Carol Bayer (Leonard) of Baltimore, and Joan Van Meter (Bob) of Mardela Springs; grandchildren, Christopher Southern, Jason Southern, Karley Bayer, Colleen Amaral, Catherine Madonna, and Robbie Van Meter, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Hailey Southern, Garrett Southern, Jackson Kolb, Kendall Southern, Michael Amaral, Isabella Amaral, Carina Madonna, and RaeLynne Van Meter, due to arrive in August; and a special "daughter", Dale Wheatley (Phil) of Mardela Springs. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Holy Redeemer Church in Delmar. The committal service with military honors will follow at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Coastal Hospice, P.O.
