Colin K. Mears, 72, of Laurel, formerly of Delmar, died Saturday, October 31, 2015 at his home in Laurel. He was born July 31, 1943 in Exmore, Virginia, a son of the late Benjamin F. and Roby Spence Mears. Colin proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Throughout his lifetime, Colin had a reputation as a hard-working, honest man. Several jobs included construction work, loading feeders on a chicken farm and working as an exterminator. His true passion was reading and studying the bible and living by the principles learned in the good book. He faithfully attended church until his health made it impossible. He also loved to visit friends, take trips to the slots in Harrington and will be remembered for his great sense of humor. He is survived by a daughter, Ann Brewington; a son, Michael Mears; grandchildren, Steven Carson, Brock Brewington, Katlyn Outten and Ashley Mears; great grandchildren, Tristin Alexander, Allie Walker, Forrest Walker, Kira Mears and Alexis Dunn; a brother, Jerry Mears; friend and roommate, Henry Peter McGee; and friend and caregiver, Victoria Byers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death a grandson, Michael; and a brother, Charlie Mears. A private service will be held at the family cemetery in Virginia, as per his request.
