It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Clifford Russell Moore of Delmar, 81, who peacefully departed this life on Monday, March 30, 2026, at TidalHealth Nanticoke Hospital in Seaford. Born on July 7, 1944, in Georgetown, Delaware, Cliff was a son of the late Arthur Preston Moore and Myrtle Phoebe Moore.
Cliff lived a life filled with love, service, and devotion to his family and community.Cliff proudly served his country in the Delaware National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserves, retiring after over 30 years of dedicated service. He was an active member of the Seaford American Legion, Post 6, where he fostered camaraderie and support among fellow veterans. Professionally, he had a successful career as a wholesale distributor in the snack industry, primarily with Wise Chips and Charles Chips.A passionate sports enthusiast, Cliff enjoyed a lifelong love of athletics. In his younger years, he played roller hockey, where he met his future wife, Brenda at the roller skating rink. The couple married on May 2, 1970, and together experienced over 51 wonderful years of marriage, raising their beloved family. Cliff followed numerous sports with enthusiasm, particularly NASCAR, where he cheered for his favorite driver, Mark Martin, and traveled to numerous races in Dover and Daytona. He was a dedicated supporter of Delmar football and held season tickets for the Delmarva Shorebirds since their inception, and enjoyed the thrill of the game for over a decade. Cliff knew the importance of keeping your mind sharp, so puzzles and online games were favorite daily hobbies in his later years.Cliff loved the outdoors and took pride in his gardening skills, successfully growing an array of vegetables and fruits, including corn, cucumbers, strawberries, watermelons, peppers, and onions. He cherished family trips to Sight & Sound in Lancaster and found great joy in bluegrass music, particularly the legendary sounds of Bill Monroe. Above all, Cliff's profound faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, shone brightly as he was a faithful member of Shiloh Community Church in Laurel.
Cliff is survived by his daughter, Kathleen "Kathy" Foskey; son, Kevin Moore and wife, Mary Kathryn; grandchildren, Caitlin R. Byers, Harrison R. Moore and Thatcher L. Moore; great granddaughter, Lilith Flood; and a brother, Clinton Moore and wife, Carolyn. He is also survived by nieces, Dawn Moore and Kimberly Wise and husband, William, Jr. ; a nephew, Clinton Moore, Jr. and wife, Annie; and many cousins and friends.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Brenda Humler Moore, who passed March 16, 2022.The family invites friends and loved ones to join them for a visitation on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:00 at Short Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shiloh Community Church, 14181 Shiloh Church Rd, Laurel, DE 19956, in Cliff's memory, supporting the community he loved so dearly.
Cliff's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him, as he leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication.
