It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Benny Mowbray, who left us on February 25, 2025, at the age of 50 after a courageous battle with complications from diabetes and pneumonia. Benny's final days were spent at Tidal Health in Salisbury, where each day brought new challenges, from medications to multiple tests. His family stood by him, and his mother, Betty Jo Mowbray, fulfilled the promise she made to Benny-to let him go when the time came. She was there when he was born and was there with him as he took his final breath. Benny was born on September 5, 1974, in Easton, Maryland, to Clifford B. Mowbray, Jr. and Betty Jo Mowbray. He was a beloved son, always close to his parents. Growing up, Benny was known for his tall, shy demeanor and his deep affection for his older sister, Debbie. He was a gifted artist. He enjoyed a wonderful childhood filled with Hot Wheels, Matchbox cars, Tonka trucks, dirt bikes, and the new excitement of video games during the 1980s. Benny graduated from James Bennett High School in 1992. He may have been quiet in the classroom, but his heart was always warm, and his family meant the world to him. He shared a special bond with his father, Clifford B. Mowbray, Jr., who passed away in 2008. Benny often spoke of his joy in knowing he would one day be reunited with his Dad. Benny leaves behind his loving mother, Betty Jo Mowbray, his dear sister, Debra Mowbray Shockley (Steve), and his cherished nieces, Sabrina and Brooke, along with his nephew, Stephen Shockley. While Benny's passing leaves a deep void, his family finds comfort knowing that he is now with his father in heaven. A member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Salisbury, MD, Benny's wishes were clear-there will be no funeral or memorial service, as he chose cremation. His family respects and honors his wishes during this difficult time. Benny's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His kind spirit, deep love for his family, and quiet strength will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Benny. You will be missed dearly by all who loved you. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Autism Society at autismsociety.org. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
