STOCKTON- Claudia J. Hickman of Stockton died Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Hartley Hall Nursing Home in Pocomoke. She was 101 years old. Born August 4, 1915 in Greenbackville, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Claude W. Jones and Cecie E. (Stewart) Jones. Claudia worked as a seamstress at the Snow Hill Garment Factory nearly 30 years. She was a member of Union Methodist Church in Greenbackville where she was very active in her younger years. Her hobbies were gardening, caning chairs and sewing. She spent the last 10 years of her wonderful life as a resident of Hartley Hall Nursing Home and thought of the staff there as family. Her family would like to thank the staff for the love and compassionate care that they gave her during her years there. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Oliphant and her husband, Robert of Laurel and Frances Hickman of Salisbury; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alvin "Cudge" Hickman, who passed in 1965; and twin brothers, who died at birth. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Greenbackville Cemetery in Stockton. Pastor Derrick Tomek will officiate.
