Obituary

As we mourn the passing of Pastor Christopher A. Huntington, who passed at his home on Friday, August 2, 2024, we remember a devoted husband, a fervent preacher, and a man who found solace in the serenity of the outdoors. He was 51 years old. Chris, born on September 12, 1972, in Salisbury, was a son of Earl William Huntington, Sr. and the late Donna Lee Shores Huntington. He was a proud graduate of Wi-Hi's Class of 1991 and member of the varsity football team. From the tender age of 19, Chris dedicated his life to spreading the Gospel, serving as a beacon of faith within the Lighthouse of Faith Holiness Church in Salisbury, a community he cherished deeply. He served the church as an assistant pastor until becoming the lead pastor in 2001. His unwavering commitment to his church and family was a testament to the love and devotion he held within his heart. Chris was also a skilled and talented electrician and worked part-time at the Mardela Hardware Store until he was no longer able. Pastor Chris found peace within nature, especially by the waters where he spent countless hours fishing, hunting, and boating. It was in these moments that he felt closest to the essence of life, finding tranquility and joy in the simplicity of nature's embrace. As an animal lover, Chris adored his dogs, chickens and other animals he raised, and will be missed the most by his faithful and loving Chocolate Lab, "Bear." Chris will be remembered as a selfless and loving husband, father to his three girls, brother, and one who left an impression on all who met him. He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 29 years, Melissa Jean (Bowser) Huntington; daughters, Sadie, Ashlynn and Abigail Huntington; sisters, Lisa Huntington and Nancy Huntington; brothers, Earl William "Jay" Huntington, Jr. and wife, Heather and Daniel Huntington; and nieces and nephews, Daniel Carmean, Veronica Carmean, EJ Huntington and wife, Makayla and Alivia Huntington. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Bobbi Jean Huntington, and many aunts and uncles. A graveside service to honor Chris' memory will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Melsons Cemetery in Delmar. Memorial donations can be made in memory of Pastor Chris to Lighthouse Of Faith Holiness Church, 700 Roger St. Salisbury, MD 21804 May his spirit soar with the eagles, forever surrounded by the waters he so adored. Arrangements are in the care of the Short Funeral Home, Delmar, Delaware.
