Obituary

Cecilia Augustine (Sparrow) Poole passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Delmar Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she had resided the past few years. She was 86 years old. She was born June 13, 1937 in Baltimore, a daughter of the late John Sparrow and Augusta Wilkeson Sparrow. Cece grew up in Baltimore where she spent most of her years. While in Baltimore she was very active in her community and was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and the Polish Home Club of Baltimore. For 20 years she lived in Florida and loved traveling around the area to watch spring training for the Baltimore O's and several other teams. Music was one of Cece's passions and she was a wonderful dancer. She will be remembered as an excellent cook and enjoyed family gatherings and cookouts. She is survived by children, Joe Ostasewski and wife, Karen, Lucia Burton and husband. Mark, Peter Ostasewski and wife, Deneen, and Stanley Ostasewski and wife, Cheryl Lynn; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; son-in-law, Bruce King; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Stanley Ostasewski and Fred Poole; a daughter, Olga King; sisters, Mary Sparrow, Margaret Pecker, and Dorothy Pecker; brothers, Anthony Sparrow and Frank Sparrow; and a grandchild. The family will host a private celebration of her life at a later date.
