Laurel- Catherine "Chickie" Sullivan, 86, of Laurel and Delmar, passed away at her son's home in Virginia on Wednesday, April 24, 2012. She was born February 9, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA, a daughter of the late Adam and Mary Metrules. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, John W. "Bill" Sullivan; 2 sons, Charles and Thomas Sullivan; and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by sons, John (Merri Jane) of Sabu, Philippines, William (Ruth) of Linden, VA, Michael of Delmar, DE and Christopher (Penny) of Oklahoma; a daughter, Jean Melvin (John) of Delmar, DE; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. Catherine was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved music, dancing, sewing, camping, gardening and she was a fabulous cook. After retirement, she and her husband worked as a team at the Laurel flea market and surrounding areas. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where family and friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00. Interment will follow the services at St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Coastal Hospice at the Lake, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
