LAUREL- Catherine "Kitty" Crowson Sparks, 90, of Laurel, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at her home in Laurel. She was born February 14, 1920 in Statesville, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Laxton L. Crow son and Blanche Harbin Crow son. On May 17, 1938, she married her sweetheart T. Howard Sparks and cherished the memories made in 72 years of marriage. Kitty enjoyed the friendships formed while working 17 years as a barmaid at the Delmar Room. She was a member and past president of the Delmar VFW, Post 8276 Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Salisbury Moose Lodge 654, the Wicomico Yacht Club and bowled for many years with the Wicomico Ladies Bowling League. Her beloved dog, "Bandit", will miss her. In addition to her husband, T. Howard Sparks, she is survived by three children, Smoky Sparks and his girlfriend of many years, Bobbie of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, William L. Sparks and his wife, Carolyn of Laurel and Janet S. Hernandez and her husband Isaias of Salisbury; close family friends, Joyce Lord, Lisa Lord and Skip Lord; four grandchildren, Halli Mulei, Sheila Parker, Jessica Moses and Stephanie Kelly; and several great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Services are private at the request of the family.
