Catherine E. Ortel (Beasley), 75, passed away on January 3, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and a life well-lived. Born in Camden, NJ, Cathy was raised by her parents, Catherine and Duke Beasley, in Baltimore, Maryland. She embarked on a beautiful journey of love and family, marrying her high school sweetheart and raising three daughters. However, her heart later found its true home with Paul Paulitti, the love of her life. Cathy explored diverse careers in different fields, showcasing her versatility. But, she will be most remembered for her artistic free spirit and her passion for creating, learning, and teaching herself how to tackle DIY projects. Her skills ranged from mastering rugged power tools to delicately crafting beautiful stained glass art. The water held a special place in Cathy's heart where she enjoyed boating, kayaking and crabbing. Her heart belonged to the Eastern Shore, particularly the beloved Sinepuxent Bay she called home for the last 25 years. Cathy was also an animal lover rescuing chinchillas, ferrets, fish, cats, dogs and ducks. Animals were naturally drawn to her warm and loving spirit and she could genuinely "talk to the animals." Cathy was a devoted mother, daughter, friend, and partner. She is survived by her three daughters, Corrie, Sandy, and Kelly, and her four grandchildren, Ethan, Sarah, Eli, and Joey. Paul, the love of her life, and her beloved dogs and ducks also carry her memory forward. As we mourn the loss of Cathy, let us remember her for her vibrant and loving spirit and the warmth she brought into the lives of those around her. May her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to her local animal shelter that meant so much.
