Obituary

Carole Wright Nesbitt, a beloved member of the Mardela Springs community, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at the age of 80. Born on November 3, 1942, in Salisbury, Carole was the daughter of the late Frances Shockley Wright and Charles M. Wright, Jr. Carole dedicated an impressive 39 years of her life to the profession of teaching, imparting knowledge and inspiring countless young minds. Holding a Master's Degree, she served as an English teacher at Delmar Jr. Sr. High School until her retirement in 2001. Carole's passion for literature and language was evident in her classrooms, where she instilled a love for learning in her students. Beyond her professional achievements, Carole found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid traveler, she treasured the precious moments spent exploring new destinations with her beloved family. Carole's talents extended beyond the classroom, as she possessed a remarkable skill for baking and creating exquisite cakes and was especially known for her red velvet cakes. Honoring her green thumb, she took great delight in nurturing her vibrant flower garden, surrounding herself with the beauty of nature. Additionally, Carole's shopping excursions held a special place in her heart. She was also a member of Snethen United Methodist Church in Mardela Springs. Carole is survived by her devoted husband, George L. Nesbitt, Jr. She also leaves behind her loving son, George L. Nesbitt, III, and his wife Donna, along with her cherished grandchildren, Jorja and Grady Nesbitt. Also, Carole's sister-in-law, Nancy S. Wright, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles M. Wright, III. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 7:00 pm at the Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Prior to the service, a visitation for family and friends will take place from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Delmar Alumni Association, P.O. Box 184, Delmar, DE 19940 or to Snethen United Methodist Church, c/o Jan Frey, 4203 Delmar Road, Delmar, DE 19940.
