Carole Ann (née Shelly) Bubas, 77, of Seaford, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. She was born December 19, 1943 in Norfolk, Virginia, a daughter of the late Cdr H. Thomas Shelly, Ret. and Roma (née Barnet) Shelly. Carole devoted her life to her family and will be remembered as a wonderful, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Always with a pure heart and full of love, Carole cared for many people in her life. She enjoyed working alongside her husband Alex, taking care of the bookkeeping and other administrative details for the restaurants that he owned with his brother Pete. When not working or raising her family she enjoyed gardening, traveling, and was an avid reader. She was also a wonderful sketch and watercolor artist, and loved all types of music. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Alex J. Bubas; a son, Geoff Bubas and wife, Kate of Delmar; a daughter, Katrina Bubas-Stevens and husband, Mike of Portland, Oregon; beloved grandchildren, Ezekiel Thees, Sharona Jedlicka, Roma Bubas-Stevens, and Nia Bubas; a sister, Betty Dunn and husband Jim of Mardela Springs; a brother, Tom Shelly and wife Pat of Salisbury; a brother-in-law Pete Bubas and wife Mary of Florida; 13 nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and great nephews. A celebration of Carole's life will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Pastor Steve Kirkland will officiate.
