Brian Thomas Maloney, 61, died at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, August 17, 2010. He was born in Wilmington, DE to the late Edward and Eileen Maloney. Brian was raised in Delmar, MD and a graduate of Delmar High School with the class of 1967. He was a Vietnam veteran who served in the US Navy as a Naval Airman on the USS Coral Sea. After military service, he returned home to Delmar and worked for C&P Telephone Co. from which he retired in 2001after 31 years of service. Brian was also an active, lifetime member of the Delmar VFW Post 8276. Besides the VFW, Brian devoted much of his free time to hunting and fishing, and he was a founding member of Pete's Hill Hunt Club outside of Princess Anne, MD. He also loved golf and was a diehard Notre Dame football fan. He is survived by his loving wife Dianne and daughter Nichole Stewart and her husband Anthony. He is also survived by his brothers, Gregory Maloney and his wife, Bonnie, Kevin Maloney and his wife, Jean, Sean Maloney and his wife, Melanie, TJ Maloney and his wife, Lana, and Lex Maloney and his wife, Sherry; a sister, Margie Tingle and her husband, Don; many nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Willye Young of Delmar; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Nichols and her husband, Bill and Helen Kennedy and her husband, Jim; and a brother-in-law, Gary Young and his wife, Maggie. Also surviving him are many close friends and family members. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday August 20, 2010 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, and also on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Ray Weisman will officiate.
