DELMAR- Bonnie Jean Bogardus, 82, of Delmar, recently a resident of Berlin Nursing Home, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 13, 2015. She was born August 30, 1933 in Radford, Virginia, a daughter of the late Henry and Iris Shockley Hall. Bonnie Jean worked most of her adult life as a nurse caring for the elderly and especially loved working with Alzheimer's and dementia patients. Her last position in nursing was at the Laurel Adult Daycare Center, a job she truly loved. Her life revolved around family and she will be remembered for being a kind, caring and compassionate mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her faith kept her strong through life and she was a former member of First Baptist Church of Delmar and a member of Lighthouse Church of God in Berlin. She loved to sing and in her younger years she was very active in the church choir. She is survived by a sister, Pastor Shirley Hall of Berlin; daughters, Teena Twilley of Bishopville, Lynn Corkran and husband, Kenneth of Bel Air, Maryland, Sharon Sapp and husband David of Salisbury and Jeannie Beach and husband Kenneth of Newark, Delaware; nine grandchildren, Sherrie Thomas, Lori Twilley, Bobbie Jean Hasbrouck, Robby Twilley, Melanie Thompson, Kaili Corkran, Rachel Sapp, John Sapp and Chris Beach; 19 great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Bogardus; and a daughter, Kathy Richardson. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where a service will begin at 1:00. Pastor Ron Soulsman, Sister Nancy Soulsman and Pastor Lori Twilley will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Stephen's Cemetery.
