Beverly Kay Gambrill, 78, of Hebron, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 13, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 14, 1944, in Athol, Maryland a daughter of the late Granville and Pauline B. Jones. Kay graduated from Mardela High School with the class of '62. After graduation she worked several places before starting her career in accounts payable at Coldwater Seafood Corporation. After retirement she became a caregiver to the elderly and she naturally became like family to those for whom she cared. She was a long-time member of Mt Pleasant Church in Athol. One of her passions was feeding people, as she was an amazing cook who loved to entertain. Another of Kay's talents was baking and decorating wedding cakes. Her cakes were enjoyed at weddings in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and even once in Vermont. Kay loved to play cards, spending hours playing at the Hebron Pizzeria and in her home with friends. She will be remembered as a mainstay at the Hebron Carnival where she rarely missed a night at the Bingo stand. Even as she was no longer able to drive, volunteers from Hebron would help get her to and from the carnival every night, for which she was so grateful. She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Evans and her husband Al; two grandchildren, Michael and Hunter Evans all of Alabama; a sister, Sandra Saulsbury; a nephew, Joseph Saulsbury and wife Mary, all of Mardela Springs; a niece Stacey Foxwell of Westminster; a niece Vicki Saulsbury of Federalsburg; her former husband and still close friend, Vernon "Bo" Gambrill; many other nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. She will be sorely missed by all. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Harriett Foxwell and her husband Gerald; and nephews, Brice Foxwell and Jeffrey Saulsbury. The family would like to thank her many in-home caregivers who became like family for the excellent care and love they gave: Dee, Alec, Wendy, Robby, and Austin, in addition to the Coastal Hospice care team of Heather, Rachel and Chaplain Joel. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023, from 6-7:30 pm and on Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 10-11:00 am at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Mardela Memorial Cemetery. In memory of Kay, contributions may be made to Mt.
