Obituary

SALISBURY- Beulah Irene Marine Lewis, 88, of Salisbury, died Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. She was born April 20, 1927 in Milford, a daughter of the late Alfred Dale Lewis and Rhoda Jane Nibblett Lewis. Mrs. Lewis enjoyed her work for many years as a nurse and a sewing machine operator. Her true calling in life was being a foster mother and for over 20 years she cared for many children and elderly who needed her special care. She loved the outdoors and had a fondness for flowers and all animals and especially loved hummingbirds. She attended the Church of God of Prophecy in Delmar and in Salisbury for many years. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and foster mother. She is survived by her husband, Benjamin D. Lewis, to whom she married April 27, 1991; 2 daughters, Lydia Moore (Kevin) of Salisbury and Sue Kukta (Edward) of Vienna; a son, Dennis Marine of Florida; nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Madeline Toomey of Georgetown, Alice Steininger of Salisbury and Emma Jean Gray of Harrington. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Floyd "Moe" Marine, who passed in 1982; a daughter, Ellen Ellingsworth; a brother, Paul Lewis; and sisters, Catherine Adams, and Margaret Casino. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar, where a visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00. Pastor Michael Phillips will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Coastal Hospice, P.O.
