Obituary

Betty Ann Twilley, 82, died on Friday, Aug. 22, 2014 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born on May 1, 1932 in Riverton, Md., she was the youngest child of the late Luke Shockley and Lyda Weatherly Shockley. After graduation from Mardela High School in 1950, she worked briefly at DuPont Nylon plant in Seaford and then at the old Columbia Del. packing house. She then became a cashier for Giant Food in Salisbury, until her retirement. Betty was preceded in death by a sister; Frances Shockley Wright, and two brothers; Ralph and Bob Shockley. She is survived by sons; Lester C. Twilley, Jr. and his wife Bonnie and Creig B. Twilley and his wife Terri; grandchildren, Marcy Twilley, Lester C. Twilley, III and his wife Jessica; Aaron and Ian Twilley, and great-grandchildren; Jackson and Elyse Twilley, as well as many nieces and nephews. Betty loved her family and was a great mom, mom-mom, and great-grand mom. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, Aug. 29th at Snethen UMC Church in Double Mills near Mardela Springs. Pastor Lou Bradley, a high school classmate, will conduct the service with assistance from Pastor Donna Hinkle. A reception will be held in the Double Mills Community House directly behind the church immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Snethen United Methodist Church, c/o Jan Frey, 4203 Delmar Rd, Delmar, DE 19940, or to Riverton United Methodist Church c/o Roy Beauchamp 11260 Sharptown Rd., Mardela Springs, MD 21837.
