Obituary

Betty J. Rogers, 81, of Sharptown, died Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. She was born January 8, 1930, in Mardela Springs, Maryland, a daughter of the late Gordy and Fannie Bennett. Mrs. Rogers loved going to the beach, gardening and working with flowers. She worked for Flowers by Nellie in Salisbury for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was a wonderful cook. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Warren A. Rogers; four children, Nancy Springer of Sharptown, Faye Friedel and her husband Lonnie of Seaford, Bruce Rogers and his wife Judy of Sharptown, and Jane Sonnier of Parsonsburg; grandchildren, Warren Springer and his wife Ginger of Laurel, Donna Williams and her husband Ricky of Seaford, Kelly Springer of Sharptown, Laurie Robison and her husband Larry of Seaford, Chris Sonnier and his wife Angela of Parsonsburg, and Katie Harper and her husband Todd of Salisbury; 12 great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Alice Ann Bennett of Hurlock, Althea Kennedy of Salisbury and Beverly Okie of Rehoboth Beach; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers and six sisters. A funeral service will be held Monday, February 14, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at the Short Funeral Home, 13 East Grove Street in Delmar. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Reverend Paul Holland will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Firemen's Cemetery in Sharptown, Md. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home, Delmar.
