Obituary

MARDELA SPRINGS- Betty Jean Robinson, 79, of Mardela Springs, died Monday, May 7, 2018 at Mallard Bay Nursing Home in Cambridge, where she had resided for the past several months. She was born April 6, 1939 in Preston, Maryland, a daughter of the late Walter and Louise (Lord) Schevel. Betty Jean worked as a seamstress for several shirt factories in the area. She was a long time member of the Uprising Church at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Hebron. She was a wonderful cook who loved to prepare Sunday dinners for her family. She loved to watch Westerns and Soap Operas and enjoyed the challenge of crossword puzzles and search-a-words. She is survived by her children, Robert Hitchens of Virginia Beach and his children, Jaime, Tanya and Phillip, David Robinson and wife Nancy of Mardela Springs and their children, Ashley, Brittany and Brandon, Linda J. Abbott and husband Kerry of Hebron and their children, Kerry, Jr. and Tina and Debbie A. Hall and husband Anthony of Conway, SC and their children, Danielle and Brittany; many great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Jack Schevel and Buddy Schevel; and sisters, Margaret Ann Sellers and Kathy Long; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude C. Robinson, who passed in 2003; a brother, Bill; and sisters, Barbara and Louise. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where family and friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00. Interment will follow the services at Mardela Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
