Betty Jeanne Myers, age 86, of Salisbury, died Monday, June 16, 2014 at Health South Rehabilitation in Salisbury. Betty was born December 16, 1927 in, York, Nebraska. She was the daughter of the late Porter S. Nelson and Angeline Graff Nelson. Betty spent two years attending the University of Nebraska where she met her husband of over 60 years, the late Jack L. Myers, who passed away April 12, 2013. Throughout her lifetime, she held various jobs, but none as important as that of a homemaker, wife and mother. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Cereal Chapter #2 in Mankato, Minnesota. Betty was a wonderful swimmer who taught the Little Toddlers Program at the Salisbury YMCA. She loved to read which led her to work many years in the circulation and reference department at the Delmar Public Library. She was a member of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in Delmar, where she sang in the choir. As she loved music, she was also a member of the Community Singers. Photography and art were also her passions and she enjoyed her membership with the Eastern Shore Camera Club. She also loved animals, especially cats, and for several years helped with the docent program at the Salisbury Zoo. She and her late husband, Jack loved to travel and experience life in many different cultures. In her later years she lived in The Village at Harbor Point and became active in the activities at the club house. She is survived by a daughter, Jeanne L. Anderton (Edward) of Hebron; a son, Terry L. Myers (Maria) of Salisbury; two grandchildren, Joe Cerrato, USMC and Stephanie Myers; and a sister, Margaret Zacharias of IA. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, and also on Saturday, June 21 at St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in Delmar from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service which begins at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Phyllis Walton will officiate. Interment will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Salisbury Zoo, P.O.
