DELMAR- Betty Ann Lloyd, 85, of Delmar, entered her eternal home on Thursday, October 11th, 2012. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing. Betty was the daughter of the late Jewell Wessells Baker & John Franklin Baker of Delmar. She was born in Delmar, and graduated from Delmar Maryland High School, Class of 1945. One of her true passions in life was her involvement with the Order of the Eastern Star. She was Past Matron of ADAH Chapter No.5, where she served as Secretary for 36 years. Because of her devotion and tenured service, she was voted to receive the status of Secretary Emeritus. She received several Eastern Star commissions to other Grand Jurisdictions and was Past Guardian of the former Job's Daughters Bethel No.6. Other memberships included the Ladies Auxiliary of the United Transportation Union #430, Member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Delmar VFW. Betty was a wonderful mother, nana, great-grandmother and all-around inspirational woman. She loved serving the community and her church in various capacities. She was a member of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church and a member of Deborah Circle. She was also a former volunteer for Peninsula Regional Medical Center and where she used her masterful sewing techniques to stitch broken teddy bears back together for Bear Care days. She was well known for her crafting skills, but also enjoyed camping with her husband, cooking for family gatherings, and just being with family and friends. Betty is survived by her daughters, Ann L. Street (Robert) of Princess Anne, MD & Lisa Lloyd Ellis (Randy) of Delmar DE, daughter-in-law Sharon Lloyd of Kema TX; Grand-children Kelli Street (fiancée Edvin Besic) of Miami FL, Jenna and Myles Lloyd of TX, and Randy Ellis Jr. (Leslie) of Delmar; Great-grandchildren Caitlin & Cole Ellis; Sister Mary Jane Johnson (Richard); Sister-In-Law Jeannie Lloyd; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Richard E. Lloyd who passed in 2003, she is predeceased by her son, John Franklin Lloyd (2012), her younger sister, Emaline Dennis (1994) and and brother-in-law Gene Lloyd. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, October 15, 2012 from 12:30 to 2:00 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. An Order of the Eastern Star service will be held at 2:00 followed by the funeral service. The Reverend Phyllis Walton will officiate. Interment will follow at S. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in her memory to the Betty A. & Richard E. Lloyd Chair Lift Memorial Fund, made payable to Adah Chapter 5 OES, c/o Linda McCann, PO Box 2534, Salisbury, Md. 21802.
