LAUREL- Betty M. Hastings, 86, of Laurel went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016. Betty was an active member of St. George's U.M.C. for over 60 years. She enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was born June 27, 1930, daughter of the late Dennard and Anna Carey of Delmar. Her husband Billy C. Hastings died 2009. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Richard Carey and Joshua Carey, and a sister, Grace Lecates. She is survived by a brother Norman Carey; a sister Joyce Figgs; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a son Alvin Hastings and wife Sue, a son Ronald Hastings and wife Shelley, a son Kenneth Hastings and wife Yvonne, a daughter Cynthia Hughes and husband John; and 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. At her request, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. George's U.M.C Church, c/o Rick Culver, 8905 Jackson Road, Laurel, DE 19946.
