Betty Jane Brittingham of Delmar, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. She was born on February 1, 1931 in Laurel, a daughter of the late Prettyman and Elizabeth (Timmons) Jones. Betty loved the outdoors, working in her flowers and watching the birds. She enjoyed afternoons' fishing with her husband and going to yard sales. She also loved her cats. She is survived by her children, Robert Brittingham, Jr. (Deborah) of Seaford, James P. Brittingham (Judy) of Delmar, Anna M. Parsons of Mardela Springs, Betty L. Hudson (William) of Mardela Springs, and Margaret J. Short of Seaford; ten grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a niece, Virginia Dryden; and nephews, Norman and Melvin Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert W. Brittingham, Sr. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Apostle Sarah E. Cannon will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Line Cemetery in Delmar.
