Obituary

Bertha F. Parsons of Willards, Maryland, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the age of 94. She was born on September 22, 1931, in Mardela Springs, Maryland to the late Clarence and Nellie Short.

Bertha dedicated her life to caring for others, serving as a certified medical assistant for over 20 years at Gull Creek in Berlin, Maryland. She had a passion for yard sales, and on Mother's Day, she often traveled to a large yard sale venue in Pennsylvania, where she enjoyed hunting for treasures. She found joy in watching the squirrels and birds in her backyard, particularly the hummingbirds that she lovingly fed. An avid fan of crossword puzzles, Bertha delighted in challenging her mind.

She was known for her unwavering love and support for her family. She is survived by her daughters Joyce Adkins, Linda Jones (Craig), and Diane Jones (Lane), as well as her grandchildren Tammy Cooper (James), Sherry Horseman (Rick), and Charles "Chuck" William Shrieves, Sr. (Cheryl). She also leaves behind a loving legacy of great-grandchildren: Jade Cooper, Amber Cooper, Kelli Horseman, Elayna Horseman, Joel Horseman, Hailee Shrieves, Payton Shrieves, and Charles William Shrieves, Jr, great-great grandchildren: Adrianna Richardson and Cohen Shrieves, and nieces and nephews. Her family was her greatest joy, and she always looked forward to their visits.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert Parsons, grandson, Christopher Jones, great granddaughter, Riley Paige Horseman, and siblings, Clarence Short, Jeanette Reno, Louise Sutton, and Ruth Parsons.
