It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bernice Marie Taylor, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister who left this world peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on May 10, 1939, Bernice was a lifelong resident of Hebron, MD, where she touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness.

Bernice was a woman of many talents, best known for her exceptional culinary skills. Her famous wet corn bread and fried chicken were cherished by family and friends alike, making gatherings around her dining table a true delight. Beyond the kitchen, Bernice found joy in her beautiful garden, cultivating vibrant flowers that brought happiness to her home.

During her long and fulfilling career, Bernice dedicated over 30 years to McCrory's in Salisbury, where she built lasting relationships with her coworkers and customers. Her compassionate nature and strong work ethic extended beyond her professional life, as she also worked in office cleaning, further connecting with those she served.

Bernice is survived by her loving son, James W. "Jay" Taylor (Tinker), her granddaughter, Jamie Nicole Taylor (Ryan), her great-granddaughter, Huntleigh Rose; her brother, Ernest Ward (Bonnie), her sister, Virginia Huston; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Ida Ward; and her husband, Frederick C. Taylor.

A graveside service will be held in honor of Mrs. Taylor on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Hebron Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to join in celebrating her life and remembering the joy she brought to all who knew her. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Bernice's memory to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
