Benjamin "Franklin" Elliott, Sr., 92, of Mardela Springs, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. He was born in Athol on February 15, 1920, a son of the late John and Madora Elliott. Mr. Elliott spent his life farming and transporting locally grown produce to be sold at the market. He had been a member of the local Farm Bureau and the Golden Alumni at Mardela High School. He also worked for Wicomico County Landfill and the Liquor Dispensery. He attended Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Mardela Springs. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Elizabeth Elzey Elliott; a son Benjamin "Benny" Elliott, Jr. and his wife Linda; two grandchildren, Mark B. Elliott and Michael W. Elliott; three step grandchildren, Michelle Wright and her husband Charles, JC Moore and his wife Jeanne, and Shannon Webster and her husband Shane; and five step great grandchildren, Charles Wright, Morgan Wright, Dalton Webster, Logan Webster and Wyatt Webster. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Milton Elliott; and a daughter-in-law, Nancy C. Elliott. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Mardela Memorial Cemetery. The Reverend Donna Hinkle will officiate. In lieu of flowers, Franklin requested donations to be sent to Emmanuel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 126, Mardela Springs, MD 21837.
