Obituary

Barbara Lee Hitch, 70, of Delmar, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Deer's Head Hospital in Salisbury. She was born November 5, 1943 in Salisbury, a daughter of the late Frank and Julia A. Parsons Malone. Barbara was a member of the Delmar Wesleyan Church, where she served as chairperson of the Missionary Society and a delegate to the Wesleyan Church Conference. She graduated from Delmar High School in 1961. She worked for M.L. Hastings Plumbing in Delmar, Manhattan Shirt Factory in Salisbury and Delmar Grain as a weightmaster. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed her flowers, cats and her dog. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Reverend James C. Hitch; 2 children, Karen Stubbs and her husband, Greg of Laurel and Mark Hitch and his wife, Caprice of Laurel; 7 grandchildren, Kristin Stubbs of Perrysburg, Ohio, Amanda Sullivan and her husband, Chris of Perrysburg, Ohio, Luke Stubbs, Lacey Stubbs, Kayla Hitch, Nicholas Hitch and Veronika Hitch, all of Laurel; and 2 sisters, Francine Walbert and her husband, Wayne of Delmar and Deborah Dunn and her husband, Phil of Laurel. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, April 18, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, and also on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00, followed by a funeral service which begins at 11:00. The Reverend Ken Deusa will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home of Delmar.
