Obituary

Barbara Jane Cannon, 90, of Parsonsburg, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Salisbury Nursing & Rehab Center. She was born on October 27, 1928 in Newark, Delaware, a daughter of the late Paul Smith Carmine and Jane Carmine Hastings. She is survived by two daughters, Terri L. White and her companion Thomas Klaverweiden of Parsonsburg and Diana Penn and her companion of Quantico; step-son, Tommy Cannon of Delmar; daughter-in-law, Patricia Short Childress; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and several step-children, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Tony Cannon, two sons, Billy and Wayne Childress; a grandson, Travis Ullrick; a brother, John G. Carmine; a sister, Nancy Passwaters; and her step-father, Milton Hastings. Barbara worked for many years as a bartender at the Salisbury Moose Lodge, where she touched many lives and was very much loved by her patrons. She was a member of the Redmens Lodge in Fruitland. She was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and the Kansas City Chiefs, as well as a fan of NASCAR and Jeff Gordon. Barbara also loved to garden. A celebration of her life service will be held at the Salisbury Moose Lodge #654, 833 Snow Hill Rd, Salisbury, MD 21804 on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
