Salisbury--Late in the evening of Thursday, May 29, 2025, Ardys Marie Lewis, age 94, left us to be with the Lord. She was born in Mississippi to Col. Calloway O. White and Juanita Johnson White. She is survived by her two sons, David Davis, (Angie) of Salisbury, MD. and James Davis of Dunedin, Florida; three grandchildren, Autumn Marie Ball, (Andrew), Scott Michael Davis, (Jamie), Dawn Michele Davis, (Sammy); seven great-grandchildren, Elli Marie Davis, Sami-Jaden Davis, Chandler Davis, Sam Ball, Drew Ball, Trinity Battle, Aria Davis, and Everly Davis; two nieces, Patty Lynn Pepper, Linda Ann Pepper; and nephew Jay Pepper. Along with her parents, Ardys was preceded in death by her sister, Patty Pepper, and brother-in-law, Hance Pepper, sister, Jeanne White, and brothers, Gary Paul White, Jerry White, George White, and Tommy White. Ardys Marie won the Louisiana State Championship for women's shooters at an early age. She was also an avid hunter with her husband, Harry Vessey. She bagged white tail deer, mule deer, antelope, and mountain goats from the Eastern Shore to British Columbia. She could put three shots in a one and one-half inch circle at 100 yards with her 7mm Weatherby. She auditioned in Hollywood for the Annie Oakley movie. In her later years she had a very successful crabmeat business from Smith Island to Ocean City. Everyone loved Ardys Marie – from her business associates to the nurses in the nursing homes. While no formal services will be held, we hope that family and friends will take the time to share stories and fond memories of Ardys in their own way.
