DELMAR- Anne Dickerson Calloway, 92, of Delmar, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Salisbury Nursing Home after a brief stay. She was born April 9, 1925 on the family farm between Laurel and Sharptown, the daughter of the late Norman O. Dickerson and Fannie Hearne Dickerson. She attended the Ellis Grove School, a one-room country school for the first 6 years. She graduated from Laurel High School with the class of 1943. She went to work at the Bank of Delmarva shortly after graduation and worked there for several years. Anne married William C. Calloway in 1949 and together they owned and operated the Bi-State Printing Company where they published the "Bi-State Weekly", a weekly newspaper. In 1966 the business was sold and Anne went to work as an aide at Delmar Elementary School for many years. There she found her calling, working with children. She will be remembered for her loving smile, big heart and always having a cheerful attitude. She was a long time member of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in Delmar and the Laurel Alumni Association. She is survived by two daughters, Cathy Wettlaufer and husband, Paul and Norma Faye Hudson and husband. David; five grandchildren, Paul Hudson, Daniel Hudson (Christine), Kyle Wettlaufer, Dr. Cara Wettlaufer Doyle (John) and David Hudson (Lauren); and three great grandchildren, Annabelle, Harper and Kian. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, William C. Calloway, who passed in 2010; and a brother, John O. Dickerson. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 12:00 noon at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where family and friends may call from 11:00 to 12:00. The Reverend Phyllis Walton will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar.
