Anne Burns Bethard, 73, of Powellville, passed Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at Select Specialty Care Hospital in Wilmington. She was born February 3, 1936 in Salisbury, a daughter of the late Edmond H. Burns and Jessie A. Burns. She was owner of Anne's Antiques in Powellville. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Charles F. Bethard; a daughter, Lynne Mitchell and her husband, David of Powellville; two sons, Charles "Chip" E. Bethard and his wife, Kathleen of Powellville and Steven A. Bethard and his wife, Katrina of Milton, Delaware; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by a cousin, whom she raised like a son, Michael Burns Gaylor, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Hunter Bethard and a brother, Edmond H. Burns, Jr. A graveside memorial service will be held on Monday, March 16, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Powellville Cemetery on Mt. Hermon Road. Following services at the cemetery, the family welcomes everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Powellville United Methodist Church on Mt. Hermon Road.
