Anna L. Wright, 86, of Delmar, formerly of Wilmington, died peacefully on Friday, December 30, 2011, surrounded by loving family. She was born in Hebron, a daughter of the late Warner Mitchell Wright and Katie D. (Holiday) Wright. Anna graduated from Delmar High and was a life member of the Delmar Alumni Association. After high school she graduated from Wesley College. She retired after many years of service from various schools in New Castle County. She was a 20 year member of the Mill Creek Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and a lifetime member of the Broadcreek Grange. She enjoyed crafts such as plastic canvas works and sewing and loved spending time at the beach in Ocean City with family and friends. She is survived by 2 sisters, Miriam Carey and Agnes W. Mathey, both of Ft. Myers, Florida; and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Wallace Wright, W. Lee Wright and John Wright; and 2 sisters, Nora Bennett and Mamie Wright Bradley. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home, Delmar, where family and friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Laurel.
