Obituary

Anna "Grace" (Kerley) Hurley born March 16, 1918 and originally of Melsons passed away Friday, January 2, 2009 at Salisbury Nursing and Rehab Center of Alzheimer's—a long and slow goodbye. Mrs. Hurley had worked as a receptionist for Dr Vineyard, Dr Bloxom and Dr Jones. Also, she was a member of WSCS and Class #5 at Melsons United Methodist Church. Grace was a life-long member of Melson's United Methodist Church. Grace was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Green and Charles Hurley; sons, Lt Col Wayne and Barry Williams; father and mother, Russell and Pearl Kerley; brothers, Russell, Jr. and Kenneth Kerley; and sister, Elnora Williams. She is survived by her brother Layne Kerley of San Antonio, Texas; daughter-in-law, Ann Williams; two grandsons and their wives Chet and Susan Williams of Cockeysville, MD and Darrin and Deana Williams of Fruitland, MD; five great grandchildren; Chet Williams Jr. and Taylor Williams; Kayla Williams, Brett Williams, and Madison Williams; sister-in-law Mary Louise Kerley and several nieces and nephews. A very special thanks to Rhonda Evans and Brenda Evans Cochran, Grace's cousins, whose support and visits during Grace's long battle with Alzheimer's made her life more enjoyable and memorable. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove St. Delmar, Delaware, on Thursday, January 8, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service at Melson's Cemetery at 11:15 a.m. The Reverend Sam McWilliams will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the local Alzheimer's Association, Eastern Shore Regional Office, 209 C Milford St, Salisbury, MD 21804 or Melson's United Methodist Church, Attn: Jean Smith, 32705 Melsons Rd, Delmar,MD 21875 The family wishes to give special thanks for all the people at Atria and the Salisbury Nursing and Rehab Center who cared for Grace during her struggle with Alzheimer's.
