DELMAR- Anna Mae Berger, 93, of Delmar, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at the Anchorage Healthcare Center in Salisbury. She was born January 11, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska, a daughter of the late Sam and Leta Grasso. Through the years she moved around the country with her husband wherever his job would take him, and raised her family in New Carrollton, Maryland. She herself always found work as a legal secretary wherever they went; however, her most important job of all was being a mother, wife, homemaker and grandmother. As Jack worked shiftwork to support the family, Anna had to keep things together at home and she taught her sons many valuable life lessons like how to fix things, cook and take care of family. She also became involved in the local Catholic church wherever she was and was very active with the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed making crafts and sewing. She was a wonderful cook and loved to travel and take shopping trips. Her family will miss her most at Christmas time as she always made Christmas a special time of the year. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Jack G. Berger; a son, Michael Joseph Berger and wife, Andrea of Delmar; grandchildren, Christopher Berger, Racheal Olsen, Tyler Berger and Joseph Berger; and great grandchildren, Vincent, Mason, Cameron and Jack Tyler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Mark John Berger; a brother; and a sister. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Delmar. Interment will follow at Delaware Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 514 Camden Avenue, Salisbury, MD 21801. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home of Delmar.
