EDEN- Andy L. Campbell, 73, of Eden, died Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at his daughter's home in Salisbury, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 13, 1937 in Craigsville, Virginia, a son of the late Edward Newton Campbell and Virginia Clark Phillips. Mr. Campbell was honored to serve his country in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961. He is remembered as a man who was never afraid of hard work. He worked for various companies, including Pepsi Co., Koontz Milk and Clark Brothers Milk, where he worked as a deliveryman, before entering the insurance field where he worked as a sales representative for Monumental Life Insurance Company. After leaving Pepsi, Andy and his wife, Joyce owned and operated A&J Furniture and Antiques and Pawn Shop, with the distinction of owning the first ever pawnshop in Salisbury. While he loved all of his work, he had a unique love for the pawnshop and enjoyed going to auctions and finding the best deals. He was an active member of Liberty Christian Church in Salisbury. He loved the outdoors, fishing and especially fond of making special memories with his family. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 46 years, Joyce Marie Taylor Campbell; a son, Eddie James Adkins and his wife, Barbara of Eden; three daughters, Teresa L. Brock and her husband, Stephen of Blades, Delaware, Yolanda G. Ward of Cambridge, Maryland and Beth Moore of Salisbury; an adopted daughter, Rosemary Seward of Salisbury; eleven grandchildren, who all held a special place in his heart, Eddie Tindle, Marquita Petrorella, Andrew Dennis, Taylor Dennis, Jennifer Ward Johnson and her husband, Adam, Christopher Nelson, Joseph Nelson, Jessica Allen, Timothy Moore, Jr., Kimberly Moore and Raymond Hill; and five great grandchildren, Ashley, Andrew, Autumn, Hayden and Jaden; and a brother, Rudolph "Fletch" Campbell of Eden. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, a sister and a son-in-law, Timothy Tyler Moore, Sr. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 22, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street, Delmar, where family and friends may call on Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and also on Monday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Phillip Alan Lee, Evangelist will officiate.
