Obituary

LAUREL- Allan Shulder, 85, of Laurel, died Saturday, October 10, 2015. He was born April 13, 1930 in Newark, New Jersey, the son of the late Samuel Shulder and Bertye Shulder. Allan earned his B.S. degree in Horticulture from the University of Maryland. Following college, Allan proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as the head horticulturist taking care of the grounds of the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, a job he enjoyed for over 20 years. He served as the Executive Director for the Professional Grounds Management Society for a number of years as well. Allan was always willing to help those in need and for many years supported the St. Labre Home for Indian Children and Youth. He was a former member of the Laurel Lions Club, where he served in various positions and had many friends and was a member of the Trap Pond Partners. He was a true animal lover and had a fondness for rescue dogs, loved gardening and was an avid stamp collector. He was an avid fan of Baltimore Sports teams and always attended his three son's athletic and musical events. Allan and his wife, Sharron traveled out west several times and these were some of Allan's most fond memories of sharing time alone together. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sharron Lynn Shulder; three sons, Stephen Shulder of Reisterstown, Maryland, David Shulder of Austin, Texas and Edward Shulder of Columbia, Maryland; a step-daughter, Corrina Ford of Freeland, Maryland; grandchildren, Stephanie Shulder, Brian Shulder, Rachel Shulder, Nicholas Shulder, Christina Leigh Ambrose, Travis Remmell, Dustin Remmell and Damian Remmell; 2 great grandchildren, Tabar and Devron; He is also survived by his faithful companion, his beloved dog "Maverick." In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Julia Shulder, a special cousin, who was like a sister to him, Evelyn Eisenberg; a step-son, Steven Ambrose and a step-daughter, Stephanie Marie Ambrose. A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 18, at the Temple Oheb Shalom, 7310 Park Heights Ave, Baltimore, MD 21208 at 1:00 pm. After services, family and friends will be received at the home of Edward Shulder, 6330 Summercrest Drive, Columbia, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Allan's memory to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
