Alice E. Workman, 85, of Delmar, died Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Delmar Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she had resided the past few years. She was born in Parsonsburg, a daughter of the late Harry C. and Mattie Mae (Timmons) Brittingham. Alice was a long time, faithful member of St. George's United Methodist Church in Delmar. She was talented with her hands and enjoyed her work as a seamstress for many years at the old Manhattan Shirt Factory. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Workman; 2 sisters, Kathleen Parker and Shirley Phillips; a step brother, Elwood Davis; and 2 step sisters, Dolsie Aydelotte and Mary Elliott. She is survived by 3 cousins, who were raised as sisters to her, Frances Collins, Joanne Hamilton and Ginny Foxwell; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where friends may call on Friday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 and Saturday one hour prior to the service. The Reverend Dr. Everett Isaacs and Reverend Earnest Bailey will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Melson's Cemetery outside of Delmar.
