Alexander Kukta, 68, of Laurel, and formerly Mardela Springs, died Sunday, December 25, 2011 at his home in Laurel. He was born October 17, 1943 in Baltimore, a son of the late John and Agnes Marie (Schemm) Kukta. Alexander graduated from North Dorchester High School before proudly serving his country in the US Navy. For many years he attended Athol Baptist Church in Mardela Springs. His love for the road led him to a long and fulfilling career as a truck driver. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to be around people and cooking for his family and friends at cookouts and picnics. He was also very fond of dogs and had a knack for training a dog to do almost anything. He is survived by a daughter, Amy Louise Williams and her husband, David of Fayetteville, North Carolina; 2 sons, Rodney Kukta and Alexander Kukta, both of West Palm Beach, FL; 4 grandchildren, Jacob Williams, Alexis French, Jessica Williams and Hunter Williams; a sister, Anna Smith of Laurel; 2 brothers, Joe Kukta and Eddie Kukta, both of Vienna; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Alexis Marie Kukta; and 4 brothers. A Time of Remembrance will be held on Friday, December 30, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 at the Vienna Community Center, 104 Ray Street, Vienna. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may go to further lung research to UMMS Foundation, 110 S. Paca Street, 9th Floor, Baltimore, MD 21201.
