Abram R. Rice, 88, of Delmar, Maryland, formerly of Dublin, Pennsylvania, died Monday, February 16, 2009 at his home in Delmar. He was born December 11, 1920 in Bedminster Township, PA, a son of the late Henry G. and Annie (Rush) Rice. Abram proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He worked hard most of his life as a Farm Machinery Mechanic for H.E. Bishop in Dublin, PA. He cherished the friendships he made with many of the area's farmers as he spent most of his time in the fields repairing their equipment. Upon retirement he enjoyed re-building and selling tractors. He was a faithful church member and volunteer fireman. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Eleanor Jane (Cline) Rice; son, Ron Rice; daughter, Kim Opay; daughter-in-law, Sheila Rice; brother, Raymond Rice; sisters, Mary Kuhn, Katherine Landis and Nora Nyce; ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Barry Rice; sister Betty Hayes; brothers, Jake and Paul Rice; and two granddaughters. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 in the chapel at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Prospectville, PA, followed by a funeral service, which begins at 2:00. Jason Rice, a grandson, will officiate. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 30505 Dagsboro Road, in Salisbury.
