Rebecca Culver Webster

June 2, 1952 - March 4, 2022

Rebecca “Becky” Culver Webster passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022 after a long and courageous battle with Pick’s Disease. Born in 1952 to Betty and Eppie Culver, she was a loving and caring wife, sister, stepmother, aunt and friend. Even as a young child, Becky dreamed of becoming a teacher and spent many hours teaching her pets, dolls and stuffed animals the three R’s. Her dream was realized after graduating from Salisbury State University and accepting a teaching position at Glen Avenue School in Salisbury, Maryland where she spent 35 years teaching 4th grade. Becky was a devoted and compassionate teacher who had a big, big heart for her students. She believed that each of them possessed unique skills, talents and gifts and she positively impacted not only their academic achievement, but also their feelings of self worth. During her tenure as a teacher, Becky developed a deep and lasting friendship with fellow teachers Becky Taylor, Billy Wilson and Shelly Messick. Becky waited 37 years to meet and marry the love of her life, Gregory Webster. They were devoted to each other and shared many wonderful experiences and memories. Both were diehard Yankee and Maryland Terrapin fans and loved watching games together. Greg faithfully cared for Becky during her long illness and his love for her was unwavering. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her stepson, Sean Webster, step grandson, Sean Luke Webster, a sister Rachel Wood (Joe Miller), her nieces, Laura Maynor (Mark), Justine Willin (Kevin), Hannah Hubble (Evans), and a nephew Lance Culver (Angie). Becky was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Burt Culver. The family is grateful for the loving care and support Becky received from her caregivers Carol Abbott of Chance, MD, and the staff at Delmar Assisted Living, Coastal Hospice, and her faithful childhood friend Donna Wilkosz. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Pastor David Webster will officiate. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Becky’s memory to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 54, Deal Island, MD 21821 or to the Culver Family Scholarship Fund, Delmar High School, 200 N. 8th Street, Delmar, DE 19940. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
