October 19, 1945 - January 31, 2022
John Frederick Schnepel, 76, of Delmar, passed away Monday, January 31, 2022 at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury. He was the son of the late Frederick V. Schnepel and Alma J. (Rew) Schnepel. John grew up in Box Iron, MD and graduated from Snow Hill High School with the class of ’63. Following graduation, he attended a mechanical trade school in Philadelphia for 2 years. John had an amazingly strong work ethic and it followed him throughout his career at Alban Tractor, Shore White, Wicomico County Roads and Delmarva Power, from where he retired. His interest included classic cars, boats- especially sailboats, taking golf cart rides with his loyal companion, Macey and feeding his pond-full of turtles. He was a long time, active member of Spence Baptist Church in Snow Hill, where he served on the Trustees for many years. John never knew a stranger and was willing to help anyone he could. He was such a special man and loved his family and his Lord. He will remain in the hearts of his family forever. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and dearly loved his brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jean. He is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia; his children, Jimmy Schnepel (Shantell) and Lisa Mordes (Scott); grandchildren, James Schnepel, Caitlin Teter (Zach), Ryan Mordes and Rachel Mordes; great grandchildren, Audrey Rae Teter and Stella Rae Schnepel; brothers, Stephen Schnepel (Teresa) and Tony Schnepel (Tracey); and a sister Linda Taylor (Bryan); three nieces and five nephews. He was also blessed by the love and loyalty of many friends. Services for the family will be private due to the current pandemic. A celebration of John’s life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
