Carolyn Lewis Hubbard, 83, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 14, 2022, at Wicomico Nursing Home in Salisbury, where she had resided over the past year. Carolyn was born September 1, 1938, in Smyth County, Virginia, a daughter of the late Floyd and Effie (Baldwin) Stamper. Carolyn graduated from Bel Air High School with the class of ’56. In her younger days found satisfaction in a real estate career with Stephens & Stewart Real Estate in Salisbury. After several years of traveling, she worked as an administrative assistant for the State of Maryland for about 10 years until retirement. Carolyn loved to travel, especially exploring warm destinations on cruises and spent many winters in Florida. She was an avid sports fan and was always cheering on her kids and grandkids from the bleachers. She was a faithful, lifelong fan of the Baltimore Orioles. She was an excellent cook and loved preparing meals for family and friends. Carolyn also enjoyed playing bridge and other games with her friends. She was a former member of First Baptist Church of Delmar and more recently had been active at Gumboro Wesleyan Church. She will be remembered for her infectious smile, warm hugs and as a loving step-mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She is survived by an adopted daughter, Linda Thomas of Norwich, CT; step-children, Clinton Lewis and spouse Jodi of Greenwood, DE, Cheryl Einstein and spouse Jake of Salisbury, MD, Sabrina Papps of Annapolis, MD and Paul Lewis, Jr and spouse Laura of Johns Island, SC; grandchildren, Crystal Beauchamp, Eric Thomas, Christine Truitt and spouse Buddy, Heather Wilkerson and spouse Corry, Clinton Lewis Jr and spouse Sarah, Connie Kelly and spouse Matt, Ryan Lewis and spouse Meredith, Kyle Lewis and Sam Papps; 10 great grandchildren; special niece, Judy Langford and spouse Jack and their children, Mike Pavey and Heather Pavey Dehoff and their children; a special nephew, Mike Stamper and spouse Cathy and their children, who called her “Nana”, Nicholas, Brian, Greg, Kevin and Caitlin; and several other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her late husband Wendell’s children and their families. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Paul James Lewis, Sr. and Wendall H. Hubbard, Jr.; and siblings, Layton Stamper (Thelma), Duane Stamper, Jerry Stamper (Ella), Roger Stamper (Orcelia), Gail Stamper (Terry) and Jackie McQuade. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar , followed by a celebration of Carolyn's life to begin at 11:00. Pastor Eddie Daniels will officiate. Interment will follow at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Gumboro Wesleyan Church, 36842 Millsboro Hwy, Millsboro, DE 19966 or to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1233, Salisbury, MD 21802.
