Bernice S. Yoder has passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication. Throughout her life, Bernice shared her unwavering love of Jesus and was known for her culinary talents, particularly her famous sweet potato biscuits that delighted many. She was born on September 15, 1941, in Bethlehem, PA, a daughter of the late Chester Edward Tress and Elda Edna Moyer Tress. Family was at the center of Bernice's world, and she played a vital role in raising and schooling her grandchildren, highlighting her nurturing and caring nature. She poured her heart into her work, dedicating several years to establishments like the Dutch Kitchen in Delmar and the Dutch Country Market in Laurel, showcasing her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. She is survived by her children, Leon Yoder and his wife, Miriam of Monticello, GA, Debra Bear and husband, Steven of Chuckey, Tennessee, Sharon Siemens and husband, Darryl of Bethel, PA and Jason "Jay" Yoder, Jr. and wife, Amy of Delmar; many loving grandchildren, Wendall Yoder (Stephanie), Duane Yoder (Genny), Roxanne Good (Ashlin), Chester Bear, James Bear, Lynette Melton (Lucas), Michael Bear (Amanda), Russell Bear (Kimberly), Leona Bear, LuAnn Bear, Wesley Siemens, Sharilyn Reinford (Marcus), Sandra Siemens, Janice Salazar (Christian), Bradley Siemens, Brenton Siemens, Jason Yoder, III (Denise), Ashley Harris (Ryan), Austin Yoder (Maddy), and Tyler Yoder; 22 great grandchildren; siblings, Leroy Tress, Marshall Tress, Edward Tress, Lois Snyder and Pamela Wiederwax. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jason A. Yoder, Sr.; brothers, Norwood and Kenny Tress; and a granddaughter, Roseanne Yoder. In honor of her memory, a funeral service and celebration of Bernice's life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 12:00 pm at Cross Pointe Church of the Nazarene, 27765 Nanticoke Rd, Salisbury, MD 21801, where a visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00. Interment will follow at Snow Hill Mennonite Cemetery. Donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Yoder to The Pocket Testament League, P.O. Box 800, Lititz, PA, 17543.
