Obituary

Arthur (Art) Ross Marvel, 88, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2024. Art was the son of the late Howard J. Marvel and Pauline Wilson Marvel. He was born near Mardela Springs, Maryland on November 8, 1935. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joyce Beach Marvel; children, Bryan Marvel (Cheryl), Nancy Pusey, Barry Marvel (Connie) and Ross Marvel; grandchildren, William Beauchamp, Jr. (Jessica), Justin Marvel, Barry Marvel, Jr. (Samantha), Ciara Berry, Jessie Beach (Aaron), Dustin Marvel, Lillie Marvel and Carlie Marvel; and great grandchildren, Austin Beauchamp, Jax Dickerson and Marlin Beach. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Lee Elliott. Art grew up in Sharptown and retired from Delmarva Power with 37 years of service where he was a proud member and Past President of the Vingt-Cinq Club. He was a member of Cross Pointe Church of the Nazarene in Salisbury. Art proudly served his country in the Maryland National Guard as a member of the 29th Infantry Division for 10 years. He was also a life member of the Hebron Lions Club, served as Past District Governor of Lions District 22B, a Melvin Jones Fellow and a Darley Travers Fellow, a member of the Masonic Lodge in Mardela where he earned his 32nd degree and Past President of Wicomico County AARP 1276 and former member of the Hebron Volunteer Fire Co. Art was a lover of sports and was a loyal and faithful fan of the Baltimore O's and Ravens. In his free time Art enjoyed volunteering at Salisbury Urban Ministries and the Hebron Firemen's Carnival. Art will be remembered as a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to so many. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 at Cross Pointe Church of the Nazarene, followed by a funeral service which begins at 2:00. The Reverend Larry Dunlap will officiate. Interment will follow at Hebron Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Cross Pointe Church of the Nazarene, 27765 Nanticoke Rd, Salisbury, MD 21801, or to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
