Obituary

Sharon Joanne McIntyre, 65 years old, of Pocomoke City, a beloved mother, grandmother, and community member, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, after a brief stay at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Born on September 21, 1959, in Salisbury, MD, a daughter of the late James Duncan McIntyre Sr. and Frances Rosalpha McIntyre, Sharon embodied warmth and generosity throughout her life, dedicating herself to her family and her passion for cooking. A proud graduate of Snow Hill High School, Class of '77, Sharon developed a deep love for her community and the outdoors. She spent many joyful hours at the horse stables at Ocean Downs, a place that inspired her to open the Ocean Downs Track-side Restaurant. There, she was known not just for her delicious food, but also for her incredible ability to nurture those around her. Sharon's kitchen became a haven for family and friends, a place where everyone felt welcomed and loved. Sharon's greatest joy came from her family. She is survived by her three sons, Shyloh McIntyre and wife Jesseca of VA, Edward "Eddie" McIntyre and wife Patricia of MD and John McIntyre and wife Renee of DE and always prioritized their needs above her own. She took immense pride in their accomplishments and was a steadfast supporter in all aspects of their lives. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Braydon, Adrian, Landon, Lillian, Piper, Duncan, Jocelyn, Kayla, Nick, Bryce, and Taylor, along with her great-grandson, Zander. Each of them carries a piece of Sharon's strong spirit and loving nature. Sharon is also survived by her brother, Jeffrey McIntyre, and sister, Shirley Bennett, who will forever cherish her memory. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Sandra Parks and Susan Sockriter, and a brother, James Duncan McIntyre, Jr. A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 2:00 pm. at Sunset Memorial Park in Berlin. Following the services all are welcome to join the family for a time of food and fellowship at the East Sussex Moose Lodge 2542, 35993 Zion Church Rd, Frankford, DE 19945.
