SNOW HILL- Gale Harrison Lank, 74, of Snow Hill, passed away at his home on Sunday, December 6, 2015. He was born in Salisbury, a son of the late Granville Harrison Lank and Grace Marie Carey Lank. Gale graduated from Snow Hill High School with the class of 1960. After high school he attended Goldey-Beacom Business School in Wilmington. He went to work for the Maryland State Highway Administration in 1962 as a shop clerk and retired in 2004 after 42 years of service. He loved the outdoors, was an avid deer hunter and was a NASCAR fan from 1960 until the 1990's. In recent years he enjoyed collecting pens and his greatest enjoyment was talking to people and either trading pens or convincing them into giving him their pen. He is survived by his wife of almost 52 years (1 week short), Phyllis Ardis Lank; granddaughter, Tara Marie Bonnaville; expected great granddaughter, due in April; brother, Jerry Lank (Mary) of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; sister, Yvonne Royster (Otis) of Chesterfield, Virginia; two brothers-in-law, Steven J. Ardis and Albert Northam Ardis of Snow Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his four furry children, cats Mr. Pooh, Little Pretty, Miss Felix and Callie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Gwynn Ellen Bonnaville and his step-mother who raised him as her own, Jane Riley Lank Arthur. She remarried and her second husband, Lewis D. Arthur, who treated Gale just like a son, preceded him in death as well. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Snow Hill Christian Cemetery. The Reverend Kenneth Elligson will officiate. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in memory of Gale to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Ct. Glen Allen, VA 23060-9979.
