Laurel- Lucy Naomi McInturff, 82, of Laurel, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Wicomico Nursing Home in Salisbury. She was born September 22, 1936 in Unicoi, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Clarence and Ruth Esther (Smith) McInturff. Lucy graduated from Eastern Pilgrim College in 1954 and started her career in 1955, working for Acacia Mutual Life as a claims processor. After joining family on the Eastern Shore, she found her true calling and became the caregiver to many through the years. She was an active member of God's Missionary Church in Delmar, where she loved working on the bus ministry, teaching Sunday school and served as treasurer until her health forced her to slow down. She was an excellent cook whose cole slaw and potato salad recipes were always in demand. She loved flowers and tending to them which gave her time to enjoy the peace and serenity of God's surroundings. She also loved horses and had a wonderful collection of horse memorabilia. She was comforted in her last days, knowing her family was there to care for her as she has done for so many others, and appreciated Deborah, Angelo and Lorraine's help. She will be remembered for her kind heart, bright smile and as a "tough old bird." She is survived by brothers, David James McInturff of Salisbury, Carl Wayne McInturff of Charlotte Hall and Robert Conway McInturff of Myrtle Beach, SC; many nieces and nephews, who were like children and grandchildren to her; and a neighbor and her best friend, Cora Layton of Laurel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Wanda Fowler and Charlotte Galena Williams. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 12:00 noon at God's Missionary Church in Delmar, where family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00. Pastor Barry Sweitzer, Jr., Rev. Rob Dicken and Rev. Eric Watts will officiate. Interment will follow at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to God's Missionary Church, 29436 Connelly Mill Road, Delmar, Maryland 21875. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
