Obituary

Gerald T. Perdue, 69, of Pittsville, died Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, with his loving family by his side. He was born January 31, 1944 in Salisbury, a son of the late Chester L. Perdue and Catherine Layfield Perdue. Gerald worked as a truck driver for Perdue for over 45 years, a job he truly enjoyed. He was the first driver at Perdue to log 3 million consecutive safe miles and proudly accepted the MD Motor Truck Association Driver of the Month award in April, 2007. He was a true outdoorsman who had a passion for deer hunting. Gerald was a faithful NASCAR fan whose favorite driver was Tony Stewart and a long time NY Giants and Mets fan. He had a love for animals, especially his dogs Remington and Chatty. Gerald will be remembered as a man who loved life and cherished times spent with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Kimberly S. Perdue; 5 children, Gerald L. Perdue (Vanessa) of Salisbury, Jeff Perdue of Salisbury, Theresa Cameron of Sharptown, Ricky Perdue of Pittsville and Wilsie Lynn Boram (Bill) of Cambridge; a step-daughter, Michelle Purcell (Matt) of Salisbury; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a brother, Russell (Sandy) Perdue of Laurel; and a sister, Rita Dayton (Brian) of Seaford. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 7:00 to 8:30 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, and also on Thursday from 1:00 to 2:00. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Jerusalem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Parsonsburg.
