Dolores Jean Lawrence, 75, of Delmar, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, January 25, 2024. Dolores was born June 29, 1948 in Merced, California, a daughter of the late Raymond J. Rodgers and Evelyn Nora (Schlegel) Stanford. She worked in packaging for Lankford Sysco for over 15 years and especially enjoyed packing food boxes for our troops. Her life revolved around her family and her faith, as she was a member of Gumboro Wesleyan Church for several years. Dolores' family and friends will remember her love for the beach and playing bingo and Yahtzee. She was a talented seamstress who loved to crochet and sew and left her children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren with special handmade afghan blankets. Most of all, she will be missed and remembered as a loving mother, a wonderful grandmother who gave her grandchildren plenty of love and great memories, and a friend to many. She is survived by her children, Brenda L. Sanchez and husband, Andrew of Las Vegas, Nevada and William Bryant of Laurel, Delaware; grandchildren, Cody Holland (David Taylor) of Salisbury and Malinda Sue Messick (Frank) of Delmar; great grandchildren, Scarlett Messick and Eleanor Messick; a sister, Jeanette Arms (Daniel) of Merced, California; brothers, Walter Rodgers of Silver Springs, Nevada and Robert Rodgers of Great Falls, Montana' and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Lawrence, who passed in 2016; a daughter, Christy Bryant; and brothers, Dennis Rodgers and Roy Richard. As per her wishes, no formal services will be planned but please remember her the next time you are spending time with grandchildren, at the beach or playing bingo.
