NEW CASTLE- Barbara Ann Mariner, 67, of New Castle, formerly of Laurel, died Monday, April 29, 2013 at Wilmington Hospital after a long illness. She was born January 13, 1946 in Milford, a daughter of the late James Mariner, Jr. and Emily Ann Mariner. Barbara was raised in Laurel and attended Laurel schools. She was an avid reader and loved being around family and friends. She is survived by a brother, Jim Mariner, Jr. of Laurel; her stepmother, Anna W. "Kathryn" Mariner of Delmar; and several cousins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Christine Bennett, who passed in 2009. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 3, 2013 at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Laurel. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
